Amish women have a very distinctive way of dressing. They have a very simple style with all clothes being made by hand with plain fabrics in dark solid colors. No prints are allowed to be worn. Women wear long dresses with long sleeves and along with an apron as part of their daily wear. The picture on the left gives an example of what the women wear.
The picture to the left gives an example of how the men dress. Their trousers never have creases or cuffs and are worn with suspenders since belts are forbidden along with zippers and velcro. The clothes are stitched with traditional buttons and hooks. When they dress up, Amish men wear straight cut suits and coats without collars or pockets.
